Today’s reading Exodus 5-7

Exodus 7:12 For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods.

Aaron casts his rod down and it becomes a servant. The false priests follow suit and do the same. They cast their rods down and they also become serpents. The only difference was that Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods.

There are several lessons to be learned from these verses. One is that God’s man had much more power than the Devil’s man. His staff ate their staffs or serpents.

Another lesson is that they were able to imitate what Aaron did. We often get so impressed by what we see “religious people” do. We think that since they can do miracles they must be from God but that definitely wasn’t the truth in this lesson.

You must learn to discern truth not based on appearances but on written truth. What God’s Word says is far more important than what we see with our eyes. Satan is obviously powerful and able to imitate.

Learn to trust God. Learn to get into His Word so you know what is true and what isn’t. What a fun time watching God do great things and knowing that it is exactly what God’s Word says.
