Today’s reading Numbers 22-24
Numbers 22:19 Now therefore, I pray you, tarry ye also here this night, that I may know what the LORD will say unto me more.
God has told Balaam that He does not want him to go with Balak. Balak keeps insisting and making offers to Balaam. Apparently Balaam is interested in what he can get if he goes with Balak.
The story is famous. Balaam with go. The donkey will talk to him. God will control the words that come from Balaam’s mouth so that Balaam doesn’t curse God’s people. God controls the situation. And basically all is well that ends well.
There are some great truths for us to learn in this lesson one of which is that when we get God’s answer it is ours to obey. Once we know what God wants we are not to continue to try and convince Him to do what we want.
We are the servants. We are the ones that are to obey. We often push God until we get what we want. We push and shove trying to make God’s will fit into our will. It simply is not supposed to work that way!
Jesus asked but then answered, not my will but thine. We asked and then keep asking till we get what we want or we walk away! Something is wrong with that attitude.
What do you think about this?
