Today’s reading II Samuel 15-17
II Samuel 17:14 And Absalom and all the men of Israel said, The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel. For the LORD had appointed to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that the LORD might bring evil upon Absalom.
Absalom has raised a rebellion against David. Absalom gets very good advice about how to completely destroy David. Then Hushai comes in and gives different advice. The truth is that his advice is what is going to get Absalom killed. But God had fixed it so that Absalom and his people would believe the wrong advice or counsel.
God was going to put an end to Absalom’s rebellion. Absalom would believe a lie and then it would bring about his destruction.
The beautiful lesson here is that God is at work in the smallest details in all those around us for our good. David would have died had Absalom not believed the bad counsel.
Do you realize that God is at work in your life? Do you realize that even in the darkest moments when there is no reason you should live that God is alive and at work.
