Today’s reading Numbers 16-18
Numbers 16:9 Seemeth it but a small thing unto you, that the God of Israel hath separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to himself to do the service of the tabernacle of the LORD, and to stand before the congregation to minister unto them?
God had given Korah and his friends a very special place of service. They were Levites. They were loved and respected for the ministry that they did. They had been chosen out of the congregation. They had been picked. They were invited to go where other men in Israel were not allowed to go and do what others weren’t allowed to do.
They were allowed to stand before the congregation and minister to them for God. All of this was theirs but they were not satisfied. They were angry that Moses had a position that was higher than theirs. They weren’t happy with the ministry that God gave them but wanted to have more. They wanted Moses’ job. They wanted to be the one running the show.
How many times has this happened in the church. God has blessed all of us and privileged us with ministry. He has given us much to do and we are blessed to have it. Yet we want more.
We want to be the one that is followed. We want all looking at us. This happens with church members in relationship to the pastor. This happens with pastors wanting a bigger ministry so that they can get more respect.
I have been guilty. God knows what He is doing in my life. He knows where He put me. I need to count myself super blessed for what He is doing. I need to do what He has put before me and not be jealous of another’s job.
I shouldn’t think that God has done me wrong by not giving me the other ministry!
