In October I visited Peru South America and just a week ago I had the chance to visit South Africa. While there I learned some very important lessons that are invaluable to my ministry at Vision Baptist Church and the Our Generation Training Center. I would love to share them with you.

The Need:

The countries you that are reached really aren’t reached. While driving around Arequipa, Peru and Port Elizabeth, South Africa you could look out see many “churches” and you could come to the conclusion that these countries are already reached. You could end up thinking that there are churches in these countries and that they don’t need a missionary. But that idea could not be further from the truth. These churches, though they might look like a church, don’t preach the Bible or teach the Gospel. As I passed through Port Elizabeth, I saw church after church and all the religion there. The stories of what happened in those churches burdened my heart. In one church a Pastor was in the newspaper saying that he had his congregation eat grass in hope that God would financially bless them. In another church a Pastor told his congregation to eat a ladies hair. Some might say that the gospel is preached in South Africa,  but in the part I visited and from the stories told to me, I can only say that the only gospel being preached in these so called “churches” was a prosperity gospel. This prosperity gospel doesn’t glorify Jesus; it elevates man’s desire to be rich and gain financially or materially. These are things that Jesus warns us about throughout the New Testament.

The need in these countries showed me how great the need is worldwide and that there are not a lot of places in the world that one can say are reached. Arequipa, Peru is one of the most gorgeous places in the world, and although there has been and is a work there with churches being started, the need is still so great. The city is growing rapidly. People are moving from the villages to this second largest city in Peru in hopes of a better life. Catholicism has blinded and oppressed these people in to believing lies. The prosperity gospel is running rampant throughout South America, and the need only seems like it growing. I am not an expert on anything. But anyone can tell that the need in South America and South Africa is not being met.

God died for all these people. The need only seems like it is growing. I have a job to do. The church has a job to do. We need to train our young men and women to go to the world and take the gospel. Our job is not done. We are so far from seeing our task finished. Christ is coming back, and the need is great. Would you pray that the Lord of the harvest would send forth laborers into His harvest? Would give to missions like you have never done before? Would you train your people and get them ready for the mission field? Would realize that the need is real and that all the world is desperate need of the Gospel. They are in desperate need of Bible-preaching missionaries. They are in desperate need of missionaries. Would you help with this need?
