Today’s reading Job 22-24

Job 23:12 Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.

Job was in the middle of problems and lots of them. Yet he makes it clear that He wants to obey God. He also makes it clear that He considers God’s Word to be more important than his necessary food, not what he likes to eat but what he needs to eat.

I often wonder how much we love God’s Word. I hear people defend the Bible, fight to say that it is the Word of God and I am glad but I am far more happy when they decide that they want to read it, live it, memorize it, hear it preached, preach it, make it a real part of their lives.

I am afraid that we have learned to honor the Bible with our lips but our heart is far from it! This should not be the truth. We should want to be surrounded by the Word of God. It should become a part of our thought process.

How important is the Word of God to you?
