Today’s reading II Kings 14-16
II Kings 15:34 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD: he did according to all that his father Uzziah had done.
Jotham begins to reign. He does right. He did what his dad, Uzziah, had done!
So often in our readings it has been a wicked father or mother affecting their son! He did wrong because his parents did wrong and he was following their example!
That is horribly painful! We do not see as many parents influencing their children to do right in the Biblical record as we do the opposite. I think that I need to be careful to seek God and try to leave a good example for my children.
It isn’t so much about what I teach or preach as it is about what I live. Will I leave a good example.
If he follows the example I am giving right now will he do what is right in the sight of the Lord. I want to evaluate and re evaluate what I am doing. It is a tremendously large responsibility to be a parent. My affect on them is painfully obvious!
I want to leave a legacy of loving God and doing right. I have already messed up and made so many mistakes that it is embarrassing. I want to influence my children for the King!
