Today’s reading I Samuel 24-26

I Samuel 26:25 Then Saul said to David, Blessed be thou, my son David: thou shalt both do great things, and also shalt still prevail. So David went on his way, and Saul returned to his place.

David has had opportunity after opportunity to avenge himself on Saul. He could have taken his life. He could have wounded him severely but each time David respected the king. He saw the king as God’s anointed. He believed that when God wanted him to be king that God would bring it to pass.

What I love is the way that Saul recognized that David was doing right even when he was treated wrongly. Saul knew that David was a bigger man than he. Saul knew that God was going to do great things with David. He knew that in their struggle David would win.

What can we learn from this lesson. We should respond correctly to poor treatment by others. We should wait on God to fight our battles. We should do right and know that even our enemies will recognize that God’s hand is on us and victory is ours!
